Trey Guidry |
Trey Guidry, a 6-2 shooting guard, is transferring from North Carolina State to ISU. Under NCAA rules, he must sit out one season, but will then have three seasons of eligibility remaining. "In my mind, Trey is everything we want in a player," said Illinois State head coach Tom Richardson, who has been friends with the Guidry family for seven years. "He shoots the ball extremely well, plays the game with great intensity and is a young man of very high character. This is an exciting day for our program." Guidry appeared in 24 games and made six starts with the Wolfpack during the 2000-01 season. He averaged 9.6 minutes and 3.1 points. His scoring high of 15 came at Wake Forest when he drilled five of six three-point shots. He finished the campaign shooting 39.1% from the field (27-of-69) and 43.2% outside the arc (19-of-44). Guidry, who attended Central High School in his native Baton Rouge, La., said he is looking for a different environment. "That's an accurate way to put it," he said. "I'm just looking for something that's a better fit for me. On my visit I could see that there are a lot of good guys on the team and I got a chance to spend a lot of time with Coach Richardson and the assistants. I like the discipline they have in the program there and I think the future is bright."
