Neil Plank

Small Forward
Transfer from Wisconsin

University of Wisconsin basketball player Neil Plank will transfer to Illinois State at the end of this semester. Plank, a 6-foot-5 freshman forward, has already received his release from Wisconsin. He played in 27 of 32 games for the Badgers this season, averaging 6.4 minutes, 1.0 points and 1.0 rebounds.  Plank will have three years of eligibility at ISU after sitting out the 2002/03 season under NCAA transfer rules. He will be able to practice with the Redbirds next year. Plank will come to ISU as a non-scholarship player next year and likely receive a scholarship the following year.  Plank, who will major in business, is best suited at the small forward position, but can also play off-guard.  Plank was named the Macon County Player of the Year his junior and senior seasons by the Decatur Herald & Review newspaper. He averaged 18 points and six rebounds as a senior while earning first-team Class AA all-state honors by the Chicago Sun Times and Illinois Basketball Coaches Association. As a junior in high school, Plank averaged 13 points and six rebounds.
