Smith becomes Coach Jankovich's 2nd high school recruit. Smith was the
back-up point guard behind Derrick Rose, rated as the nation’s top player
by many recruiting services, last season as Simeon won its second straight
Class AA state championship. Kenyon averaged 4.3 points and 2.0 assists per
game and shot 46 percent from 3-point range (22 of 48). Assistant coach
Paris Parham had a huge hand in Smith's decision to attend ISU.
Chicagohoops.com
ranks him the 16th best player in the state,
6 spots behind Jeremy Robinson, and says
of Smith "Smith is a dazzling combination of strength,
quickness and skill on the basketball court. He is a superb penetrator
offensively, and quite possibly the best on-the-ball defender defensively.
One coach put it best in saying that "If you put the ball on the floor
in front of him, Kenyon is gonna take it." |
