Casey Reid, a 6-7, 205-pound forward, who last week was named a second team
all-American by the National Junior College Athletics Association, has signed a
national basketball letter of intent with Illinois State.
Reid is from Las Vegas, Nev. where he played for Las Vegas High School. During
his Junior year, his team finished as state runner-up with a 29-6 record, during
that year Casey averaged 10 points and 10 rebounds. During his Senior year, his
team was a playoff qualifier. Reid averaged 14 points and 10 rebounds per
contest. He was named to the All-City team and to the All Tournament team
of the Reebok Holiday Prep Classic.
He played two years of junior college basketball at Scottsdale (Ariz.) Community
College.
This season, Reid averaged 22.0 points, 12.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5
blocks while earning most valuable player honors in the Arizona Community
College Athletic Conference. He connected on 60% from the field and 67% from the
line this past season, and 63% from the field and 75% from the line his Freshman
season.. Reid was a member of the 2001 ACCAC All-Conference and was voted
Conference Player of the Year.
Reid logged a scoring high of 37 points in one game and twice pulled down a
rebounding best of 21. He had 18 double-doubles and one triple-double. As a
freshman, he averaged 10.0 points and 8.0 rebounds, while shooting 63% from the
field and 75% from the line.
