Coach Jankovich has signed his second recruit in Brandon Sampay, from Howard College in Texas. Sampay, a 6-8 260 pound forward, averaged 3.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.6 steals while shooting 60.3 percent from the field and 70.8 percent at the free throw line and ranked in the top 10 in scoring and top 20 in steals for the Western Junior College Athletic Conference. Sampay was named to the all-Western Junior College Athletic Conference team the past two seasons. He is ranked as high as 15th among Division 1 Junior College players. Brandon made visits to Connecticut and Cal State-Fullerton before signing with the Redbirds. Sampay played football and basketball at Crenshaw High School in Ingelwood, Calif., a Los Angeles suburb. He was a standout tight end who was recruited by the likes of Southern California, Penn State, Oregon State and Cal. |
