Jackie Carmichael, a 6-foot-9, 230-pound power forward from South Kent Prep in Connecticut, announced Saturday he will sign a national letter of intent to play basketball with the Redbirds. Carmichael was a First Team Class 6A All-State player at Manhattan (Kan.) High School. He averaged 10 points and nine rebounds this past season for South Kent, and averaged 19 points and 10 rebounds as a senior at Manhattan. As a senior, he was voted First Team All League, and also Co-Defensive POY. In the state All Star game he scored 27 points, grabbed 8 boards, and blocked 6 shots. Carmichael said he also talked to Georgetown, Western Kentucky, Southern Methodist, Minnesota and Seton Hall. |
