Northeastern proved to be no contest for the Birds as ISU raced out to a 31-9 lead and cruised to an 83-58 non conference victory. Tarise Bryson had another fabulous game, scoring 32 points, 6 rebounds, 6 steals, 2 assists and 1 block. Tarise was 6-8 from 3 point range, including his first 5, and 12-18 from the field. He scored ISU's first 12 points and 14 of their first 16, continuing his hot shooting streak started in the Miami Fla. game. Tarise has scored 72 points over the last 2 games.
After building a 22 point lead the Birds relaxed their play and allowed Northeastern to go on a 10-3 run and closed the deficit to 34-19. The half ended with ISU holding a 38-24 advantage. After the half the Birds quickly built the lead back into the 20's and held off the Huskies although they were out-rebounded in the second half by 6. 4 Redbirds scored in double figures. Bryson led the way followed by L Dee Murdock with 17 points, 9 rebounds. Shawn Jeppson scored a career high 15 and PJ Smith added 10. |
