ISU started the game well taking an early 4-2 lead. However, that
was their only lead in the game. They hung around for most of the first
half, and managed to tie the score at 18 with 8:50 to go in the half.
Bowling Green scored the next 7 points in the game to take a 25-18 lead.
After going scoreless for 6:16 ISU outscored their opponents 8-6 down the
stretch and went to the locker room with a 31--26 deficit. L
Dee Murdock scored 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in the half. ISU hung around for the first few minutes of the second half and were only down 5 points at 41-36 before Bowling Green put the Birds away. They scored the next 5 points to go up 46-36. They went on to run their lead as high as 21 points before the final 80-60, 20 point victory over the struggling Birds. ISU committed 12 second half turnovers and finished the game with 20. After making 6 of 6 free throws in the first half they could manage only 7 of 13 in the second half. Murdock paced the Birds with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Tarise Bryson, who was 4 of 12 from the field finished with 14 points and a team high 6 assists. Chad Mazanowski had a career high 10 points but was slowed early in the second half when he fell hard on his hip and struggled the rest of the game. PJ Smith scored 9 points and grabbed 3 rebounds. As a team ISU was 1-11 from 3 point range. |
