Eight turnovers in the first 11 possessions was how the Birds started the game. Luckily Creighton started with 5 turnovers of their own and tried to keep ISU in the game. With ISU down 1 point at 4-5 Coach Richardson was whistled for a technical after disputing a poor call by the official. After that it was all Creighton. The Jays scored the next 10 points to take a 14-4 lead. ISU showed signs of life momentarily scoring the next 6 but Ryan Sears scored 5 straight as Creighton now lead 19-10. 4 minutes later they ballooned the lead to 20 at 30-10. They coasted to a 43-21 half time advantage. The futility continued through the second half as the cruised to a 39 point 82-43 victory. L Dee Murdock paced ISU with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Andy Strandmark had a good game scoring 6 points, grabbing 7 rebounds, and team highs of 3 steals and blocked 2 shots. ISU's leading scorer Tarise Bryson was held scoreless on 0-6 shooting. The Birds committed 26 turnovers and had only 4 assists as a team. ISU was out rebounded for the first time this year 39-30. |
