Indiana State
February 22nd

Tha game started painfully slow. 6:30 into the game ISU held a slim 6-5 lead. A minute and a half later it was knotted at 8 each. The Sycamores scored to make it 10-8 but 5 quick points by Victor Williams on a 3 pointer and a steal and lay-up made it 13-10. Later, after falling behind 16-17 Vic nailed another 3 pointer, then made another lay-up to make it 21-17 in favor of the Redbirds. Indiana St scored the next 6 to move ahead 23-21 but another steal and lay-up by Williams made it 23-23 with 3:30 to go. The Sycamores led 28-23 with 2:20 to go when LeRoy Watkins made a lay-up followed by Vic's third 3 pointer in 3 attempts to knot it up at 28 with 1:30 to go. Indiana St. nailed 2 threes to finish out the half with the Sycamores up 34-28. Williams scored 15 for the Birds in the half. Senior Chad Adkins scored 9 on 3-3 shooting from behind the arc. The first half saw 10 lead changes and 4 ties. The Birds shot 44% in the half, 67% from behind the arc and attempted no free throws. Indiana St shot 45%, 50% from behind the arc and made 3 of 5 free throws. Both committed 6 turnovers and Indiana St. out-rebounded the Birds 19-17.

The second half was late in starting while they tried to repair the shot clock over the Redbird's basket but they were unsuccessful so the Birds were forced to play without it. The Birds scored the first 4 points on a Watkins lay-up and 2 free throws by Vic to make it 34-32. Then the Sycamores shot clock went out. The officials decided that the P.A. announcer would call out when the shot clock reached 10 seconds and play resumed. Instead of announcing it they used the buzzer which kept the players confused. The score board also went out for a short while. At the 13:28 mark and Indiana St ahead 41-36 Kyle Cartmill injured his left foot and had to leave the game limping badly. Kyle had grabbed 5 rebounds in the second half. After the time out Vic Williams nailed his 4th straight 3 to make it 41-39. With 11:17 to go Indiana St. maintained a 2 point lead at 43-41. Sean Riley scored to tie it at 43. Then Vic nailed his 5th straight 3 then followed it up with 2 more to make it 48-43 Redbirds. But Indiana St. scored the next 5 to tie it at 48. The Birds outscored them 6-2 to take a 54-51 lead with 6:45 to go. At the 4:58 mark the Birds maintained a 3 point lead 56-53. Once again with 2:56 the Birds were up 3, 60-57, when time was called. Both Riley and Bryson left the floor in obvious pain. Riley re-injured his shoulder while taking a charge and Bryson hurt his leg on a lay-up attempt. Ryan Crowley scored to make it 62-57 with 1:42 to go. With 1:15 to go Michael Menser hit a 3 to cut the lead to 62-60. Indiana St missed 2 free throws with 48 seconds to go. Bryson was fouled with 14.3 to go but it was only the 6th team foul. With 11.6 seconds to go they fouled Riley who swished both tosses to make it 64-60. Nate Green drove and scored with 7.4 seconds to go to make it 64-62. Ryan Crowleys inbound pass missed Riley and went out of bounds for a turnover. Adkins nailed a 3 with 4.9 seconds to go to put Indiana St. up 65-64. Williams missed a jumper from the free throw line to end the game. Stallings called it "complete ignorance for 11 seconds" and a "fitting ending to the regular season." He also said that Kyles foot is probably broken.

Vic led all scorers with 25 points. He also had 2 rebounds and 2 assists. LeRoy Watkins scored 16, grabbed 7 rebounds, blocked 2 shots and had 1 steal.
