![]() ISU at Wisconsin Green Bay December 20th 7:35 p.m. ISU came back from what looked like a lost cause to win 72-70 after being down as many as 14.The Birds started off slowly at the offensive end as they fell behind 21-11 in the first half.Kevin Stallings was assessed a technical foul which was the first of three technicals to be called in what sounded like a bizzarely officiated game. The Birds went into the locker room at half time down 8. The Phoenix scored the first 4 points of the second half and it looked as if it would be a long ugly night as the Birds bounced back and forth between 14 and 8 points down.Dan Muller kept the game from becoming a lost cause as he came up with several big plays to keep his team within striking distance.Skipp Schaefbauer, who has been in a shooting slump the last 4 games, had a good night from the field despite having to leave the game on 2 seperate occasions with injuries. He injured his left elbow early in the second half and his left wrist midway through the second half. After injuring his wrist he got it taped, returned to the game and immediately hit a three.WGB's coach was assessed a technical foul in the second half as was one of their players(Walker). The third technical of the game occurred with ISU down 8 points with 5 minutes to go.A foul was called, then when Walker complained about it the technical was called.Kyle Cartmill came in to shoot for Skipp who injured his wrist on the play and made both shots. Then Dan Muller made both technical free throws. The Birds had a chance for a 7 point play however a turnover by Rico Hill stopped ISU from going from 8 to 1 point down in one possession. Dan Muller and Jamar Smiley were both coming off of a bout with the flu earlier this week.Jamar had lost weight and had to be helped standing up during a time out late in the game although he still managed to score 9.Dan who didn't get as sick as Jamar led the Birds with 23 points and 5 rebounds.Rico Hill scored 21.Skipp will have his wrist x-rayed tonight to see if it is broken. WGB is now 5-3 while the Birds move to 6-3.
