After an extremely slow start ISU defeated Mornar Yugoslavia by the score of 74 - 58.Eight minutes into the game the score was 5 to 8 and after nine minutes it was 5 to 10 in favor of Yugoslavia.ISU closed the half with a last second 3 pointer by Kyle Cartmill and took a 34-31 lead into the locker room at half time.The Birds came alive in the 2nd half outscoring them 40-27 for a 16 point final margin of victory.
ISU's Jamar Smiley did not play as he served the 2nd game of a 4 game suspension. Rico Hill (foot injury) , Leroy Watkins (dislocated shoulder) and Kenneth Pierson (knee injury) also did not play.
Skipp Schaefbauer led all scorers with 24 points.He also had 1 steal,3 rebounds and 4 assists.Kyle Cartmill scored 16 points and grabbed 6 rebounds,2nd best in both stats.Dan Muller had another all around solid game with 10 points,8 rebounds,5 assists and 4 steals.
Once again due to injuries and suspensions ISU's reserves got to play a lot of minutes in a game situation which should prove valuable to the team later in the season.
After commiting 26 turnovers in the last game the Birds only turned the ball over 15 times tonight.Steve Hansell had an excellent ball handling night as he had 7 assists and 0 turnovers for the game.
