04/15/04 - At the basketball banquet last night, Vince Greene and Trey Guidry were name co-recipients of the Doug Collins Coaches Most Valuable Player award. Gregg Alexander received the Redbird Award, and Najeeb Echols claimed the Best Defender award. Freshman was voted the teams Most Improved Player. It was also announced that walk-ons Matt Miller and Ken Hill will remain at ISU to complete their schooling, but will not play basketball next season.
04/07/04 - Freshman forward Michael Sams will not return next season. Head coach Porter Moser informed the Sams that his scholarship was not going to be renewed. Under NCAA rules, scholarships are for a one-year period and must be renewed at the end of each school year. Athletes have to be informed in writing by July 1 if their scholarship is not going to be renewed. Sams isn't sure where he will transfer, but does plan to continue his playing career.
03/30/04 - Guard Kevin Troc has been forced to end his basketball career due to a degenerative knee condition in his right knee that kept him from play most of the last season. Kevin made the decision after discussing the problem with doctors, trainers, coaches and family members.
03/16/04 - After being suspended for the final 5 games of the season, Chris Burras has decided to transfer from ISU at the end of the semester.
03/06/04 - ISU fell to Northern Iowa in the quarter final round of the MVC Tournament 68-54, and ended the season with a 10-19 record. Trey Guidry once again paced all scorers with 22 points. Northern Iowa advanced to win the MVC tournament, defeating Wichita St. and SMS.
03/05/04 - ISU defeated Bradley today in the play-in round of the MVC Tournament 76-56. The 20 point margin of victory was the largest ever by a 10 seed in Tournament history. Trey Guidry committed 3 turnovers and 2 fouls, with 0 points in the first 25 minutes of the game, but finished as the game high scorer with 22 points.
03/01/04 - ISU trailed at the half by 9, and fell behind by as many as 17 before staging a comeback and defeating Drake in the final regular season game 73-68. Vince Greene led all scorers with 23, as well as a game high 7 assists, a team high 2 steals, and 4 rebounds. Greene also became ISU's all time leader in consecutive free throws made with 36, after making 8 of 8 attempts in the game. Trey Guidry added 20 points. ISU will face Bradley in the play in round of the MVC tournament on Friday.
02/28/04 - ISU fell behind by 19 in the first half, but closed the gap to 3 in the second half before falling to Wichita St. 68-62. Trey Guidry paced the Birds with 23 points.
02/25/04 - ISU fell at home to Evansville 72-56, after leading 34-33 at halftime. Trey Guidry led the Birds with 15 points.
02/24/04 - In MVC honors announced today, ISU's Trey Guidry was named the captain of the All Bench Team, and Marcus Arnold was named the captain of the Most Improved Team. Also today, Chris Burras was indefinitely suspended form the team.
02/21/04 - ISU built a 23 point second half lead, but the Ramblers got within 2 before falling 77-71.
02/18/04 - ISU fell on the road to Bradley in the second game of the War on 74 65-46.
02/14/04 - The Redbirds held Indiana State to 11 points in the first half, with 2 coming with 28 seconds left in the half to break double digits, and held them to 37 points for the game in a 63-37 victory at Redbird Arena. The 39 points final score was the lowest by a Redbird opponent in 18 years. Trey Guidry led all scorers with 21 points on 5 three point shots. Marcus Arnold added 14 points. Walk on Ken Hill started for the first game in his career and scored 2 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, 1 blocked shot and 1 steal.
02/11/04 - ISU led early by 4, but fell behind by 19 at half time and never recover at Evansville and lost 79-48. Najeeb Echols led ISU with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Freshman Greg Dilligard tied Echols with 5 rebounds and had game highs of 3 steals and 3 blocks.
02/08/04 - The Birds took an early 7-4 lead, but feel on the road to SMS, 69-57. Marcus Arnold led all scorers with 17.
02/04/04 - ISU lost at home to Wichita State, 70-50. Trey Guidry led all scorers with 16.
02/02/04 - ISU's Bracket Buster opponent will be Loyola on February 21st at Redbird Arena.
01/31/04 - ISU lost at home to Bradley 57-54. The Birds found themselves down 7 at halftime, and had a shot to tie the game at the end of regulation, but the shot hit the front of the rim.
01/28/04 - ISU fell behind at Northern Iowa by 9, 14-5, early in the first half. But they outscored the Panthers by 19 over the remainder of the half and led 32-22 at half time. Northern Iowa fell behind by as many as 13 in the second half, but twice cut the deficit to 3. ISU held off UNI down the stretch to win their first road game of the season 68-60.
01/24/04 - ISU led at halftime 30-27, but fell on the road to Creighton 72-63. Trey Guidry led ISU with 16 points.
01/21/04 - ISU led 40-36 midway through the second half, but were outscored 35-18 down the stretch and fell to SIU 71-58.
01/18/04 - The Birds held SMS to 17 first half points, and 2 points in the first 9:59 of the second half. The Birds led by as many as 19 points in the second half, but went cold from the floor. SMS got within 6, but ISU held them off down the stretch to win, 54-42. Marcus Arnold led all scorers with 16, as well as game highs of 3 steals and 3 blocks.
01/14/04 - ISU fell on the road to Drake 59-55. ISU led by as many as 10 in the fist half, but later fell behind by as many as 13 in the second half. ISU closed the gap to 2 late in the game before falling by 4.
01/10/04 - The Birds remain winless on the road this season after falling to Indiana State 56-49. Marcus Arnold paced the Birds with 15 points.
01/07/04 - The Birds lost a second straight game in a row to a ranked opponent by falling to Creighton 56-55. The Birds, who led most of the way, led 50-38 before being outscored 18- 5 the rest of the way. Marcus Arnold had his first career double double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Najeeb Echols led all scorers with 13 points.
01/03/04 - ISU started the game well, jumping out to a 10 point lead. Illinois fought back and regained the lead. The teams traded baskets and a free throw to end the first half tied at 32. Illinois took an early lead in the second half, but the Birds once again got hot and took an 11 point lead, 52-41 on a Trey Guidry 3 pointer with 12 minutes left in the game. The Illini chipped away at the lead and tied the game on 2 Nic Smith free throws with 18 seconds remaining. A shot in the lane by Marcus Arnold, who scored 23 for the game, bounced off the rim and sent the game into overtime. Illinois won the extra period 12-5 to win 80-73.
12/28/03 - ISU fell to 0-2 in the Valley as they lost on the road to Southern Illinois 57-40. The Birds did a good job defensively, holding SIU to 57 points, and 43% from the field, but could manage just 40 points themselves on 16-50 shooting. Najeeb Echols paced the team in scoring (9), rebounds (5) and assists (2).
12/20/03 - The Birds fell behind by as many as 16 points, before rallying to tie the score at 57 with 5 minutes remaining. However they could never regain the lead and fell to Northern Iowa, 64-61. Trey Guidry led the Birds with 13 points.
12/16/03 - ISU let a late lead slip away during regulation, but defeated Western Kentucky in overtime 66-65. Marcus Arnold led all scorers with 23 points. Neil Plank added 9 points, 9rebounds and 4 assists. Greg Dilligard added 5 points and 10 rebounds, including 4 rebounds in overtime.
12/13/03 - Trey Guidry led the Birds in scoring for the third straight game, but ISU lost on the road to Illinois Chicago 86-74. Guidry led the Birds in points (20), assists (5), and rebounds (6) off of the bench. Najeeb Echols scored 13 points and grabbed 3 rebounds in his ISU debut. Marcus Arnold and Vince Greene added 11 each.
12/12/03 - After sitting out for 1 year after transferring from Missouri, Najeeb Echols has now become eligible to play and will suit up for tomorrow's road game at UIC.
12/06/03 - ISU, who never trailed in the game, defeated Eastern Michigan 80-69. E Michigan tied the game briefly in the second half at 41 before the Birds regained the lead for good on a lay-up from Marcus Arnold. Trey Guidry led the way off of the bench with a game high 27 points. Arnold added 22 points, and 7 rebounds. Freshman Greg Dilligard nearly finished with his first career double double with 10 points and 9 rebounds.
12/02/03 - ISU evened their record at 2-2 with an easy victory over Division II Bellarmine 87-53. Trey Guidry paced the Birds with 20 points. Chris Burras added 17 points, as well as 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals.
11/29/03 - The Birds led 31-30 at the half, but fell on the road to Utah State, 89-84. Neil Plank led the Birds in points (21), rebounds (5), and assists (4). 4 other Redbirds scored in double digits. Trey Guidry had 18, Marcus Arnold added 14, and Chris Burras and Vince Greene chipped in with 12 each.
11/26/03 - ISU fell on the road to Northern Illinois 66-55. Gregg Alexander scored 20 points to lead the Birds, while Marcus Arnold added 16 points and 9 rebounds.
11/23/03 -The Birds won their first regular season game by defeating Florida A&M 87-70. Trey Guidry led all scorers with 24 points. Marcus Arnold added 21 with 8 boards, and Neil Plank notched a double double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, as well as a game high 6 assists, and a team high of 5 steals.
11/16/03 - ISU defeated the Global
Sports All Stars 81-75. Marcus
Arnold led the way with 24 points.
11/12/03 - Justin Dentmon and Nedu
Onyeuku signed their national letters of intent today to play basketball at
Illinois State. The highly athletic duo will fit in well with Coach Moser's
desire to run a more up tempo system in the future.

10/04/03 - Coach Moser got his first commitment from a player today when 6'1" point guard Justin Dentmon from Carbondale High School verbally committed to ISU. Justin will sign with the Redbirds during the fall signing period.
09/20/03 - The Marshall game, scheduled for Dec. 6th, has been
exchanged for a game against Eastern Michigan on the same date. ESPN
requested the change so that Marshall could participate in the ESPN Pape
Jam. The Marshall game will be rescheduled for next season. The E. Mich.
game will be the first of a home and home series.
08/24/03 - Coach Moser has enlisted 2 walk-ons to add depth to the squad this season. 6' 8" Kyle Flowers and 5' 10" point guard Matt Miller have joined the team.
08/20/03 - WJBC announced that former voice of the Redbirds Dick Luedke will return to the microphone to call ISU basketball games this season. Greg Halbleib will be the play by play announcer for the football team.
04/10/03 - ISU has named Porter Moser, formerly the head coach of Arkansas Little Rock, as their new head Men's Basketball Coach.
03/12/03 - ISU Athletic Director Perk Weisenburger made it official today, by announcing that Coach Richardson's contract would not be renewed.
03/11/03 - WJBC is reporting that ISU head coach Tom Richardson has been fired. No official word from ISU has been released, although a press conference is rumored to be held in the next couple of days.
