| The Birds jumped out to an early 7-2 lead before Wichita
battled back to tie the game at 9. A jumper by Boo

Alexander scored to give ISU a 13-9 lead, but once again Wichita
battled back to tie the game at 13, then took a 16-13 lead on a Kampman 3
pointer. The Birds tied the game at 16 an a basket and free throw. The
next 3:30 saw 6 lead changes with Wichita taking a 23-22 lead. The
Shockers held the lead until the 1:24 mark when a 3 pointer by Vince
Greene hit a 3 pointer to tie the game at 28. The Shockers scored with
29 seconds left to take a 30-28 halftime lead.
The first 8:25 of the second half saw 3 ties and 5 lead changes with
ISU leading 48-47 with 11:35 to go. The Birds built a 6 point lead, 53-47.
They led till the 4:30 mark when Wichita regained the lead 60-59 on a
Randy Burns lay up. Trey Guidry answered
to put ISU ahead 61-60 with 4 minutes left. A Kampman basket with 2:32
left gave Wichita the lead, 62-61. Guidry quickly answered with a 3
pointer to put the Birds on top with 2:14 remaining. An Aaron Hogg 3
pointer saw the lead change once again with 1:50 left, but Guidry answered
once again to give ISU a 66-65 lead with 1:17 remaining. After a timeout
Wichita hit a lay up with 1:01 left on the clock to go up 67-66. The birds
had a chance to see Guidry put them back on top, but a 6' shot rattled in
and out. The Birds fouled with 1.3 seconds left and converted both free
throws to seal the victory.
