Utah state jumped out to an early 6-2 lead at the 15:34 mark as both
teams played good defense early. They built the lead up to 16-12 before a
3 pointer an a reverse lay-up by Trey
Guidry gave ISU a 17-16 lead. However, Utah State rattled off the next
11 points and took a 27-17 lead. They held off the Birds the rest of the
half to take a 32-22 halftime lead.
ISU's first 5 baskets of the second half were 3 points by Guidry and Gregg
Alexander. ISU's first basket inside the arc came at the 12:31 mark on
a short jumper by freshman Marcus
Arnold which pulled the birds within 2, 43-41. But that was as close
as the game would get. Utah State went on an 8-0 run and were never threatened
the rest of the way. The held the Birds off from the line down the stretch
to win 68-53.
