The Birds jumped out to an early 16-7 lead with the help of 5 points from Andy
Strandmark, 2 three pointers by Gregg
Alexander and 1 three by Trey
Guidry with 15:55 remaining in the half. UIC called a time out and
made adjustments to their offense. They out scored the Birds 14-4 to take
a 21-20 lead with 7:19 remaining in the half. A 13-8 run followed to give
the Flames a 34-28 halftime lead.
Freshman Marcus Arnold came
out on fire in the second half, scoring ISU's first 8 points of the half
and single handedly tied the game at 36 with 17:23 left in the game.
A Guidry 3 pointer gave the Birds the lead again, 39-36. However, with
14:15 left in the game UIC regained the lead, 43-42. A 3 by Vince
Greene recaptured the lead for ISU. UIC took the lead for good on a 3,
to give them a 48-47 lead with 13:53 left in the game. The Flames held off
ISU down the stretch to win, 78-65.
