The Birds held a 38-34 qt the 17:46 mark when Bryson went down with the injury to his shooting wrist. Shedrick Ford who was already playing a solid game took the leadership role and stepped his game up a notch.  He scored the Birds next 5 points on a lay-up and 3 free throws, but Weber regained the lead 44-43. Ford nailed a 3 pointer seconds later to put the Birds on top again. The teams traded leads again before 2 Dirk Williams free throws put ISU up for good 50-49 with 11:44 to go. A Jeppson pass to Bojang with a foul but the Birds up 4. Weber's head coach  was called for a technical when he bumped a referee on the floor. Jeppson hit the free throws, and freshman Gregg Alexander added another free throw when he was fouled on the ensuing possession. ISU held a 7 point lead, 69-62 but committed 2 straight turnover to allow Weber within 3 with 3:34 left in the game. Bojang scored off of a pass from Jeppson with 2:21 left. Weber added a free throw to close within 4. 2 turnovers and 2 missed free throws by the Birds left Weber St. a ray of hope with 15.2 seconds to go, however they missed on a long 3 and Bojang was fouled on the rebound and hit 2 charity tosses to put ISU up 6, 73-67 with 10.6 seconds to go. A wild three point attempt fell for Weber with 2.3 seconds to go and Vince Greene was fouled on the inbound play and hit 1 free throw with .5 seconds left to ice the game.
