The game got off to a slow start as ISU fell behind 2-4 with 17:17 left in the half. Pitt, who was much bigger and more athletic than the Birds, went on a 16-4 run to take a 20-6 lead with 11:20 to go. ISU couldn't get the deficit under double digits as the went into the half behind 32-20.

The second half offered more of the same as the closed ISU could close the gap was 34-27 befor another Pitt run saw the Birds fall behind 57-38. Pitt finished the game strong and defeated ISU 65-46.

Shedrick Ford led ISU with 13 points and 5 rebounds. Gregg Alexander and Boo Bojang added 7 points a piece and Bojang tied Ford for team high honors in rebounds with 5.
