ISU jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead on the Anteaters and never relinquished the
lead. The anteaters got back within 2 8-6 when a Vince
Greene 3 pointer put the Birds up 5, 11-6. The biggest lead of the half came
when a Shedrick Ford 3 pointer fell to make
the score 16-8. Once again the Anteaters went on a run, scoring the next 7 to
close within 1 point. Another Greene 3 pointer stopped the run and ISU settled
for a 26-21 half time lead.
A lay-up by Shawn Jeppson off of a steal
early in the second half put the Birds back up by 8, then a Boo
Bojang tip in gave ISU their first double digit lead, 32-22. UCI got back
within 6 before a technical on the Anteater's bench with 9:05 left. Jeppson
converted the free throws for 43-35 lead. The Birds held on to win 58-52.
Bojang led the Birds with 13 points and 8 rebounds. Jeppson and Greene added
12 and 11 points respectively. Greene also had a team high 4 assists.
