Once again a slow start saw the Redbirds fall behind early as the Eagles took a 13-3 lead. The Birds scored the next 6 on 2 free throws by Shedrick Ford, a lay-up by Gregg Alexander and a put back by Boo Bojang. ISU got back within 1 point later in the game on 5 straight points by Shawn Jeppson and then took their first lead, 22-20 on a 3 pointer by Vince Greene off of a pass from Jeppson. The next few minutes of the game saw 5 ties and 6 lead changes, but an 8 point run by the Eagles late in the first half boosted their lead back to 10 points and they entered the half ahead by 8, 48-40.

ISU trimmed the lead down to 3 on a put back by Bojang and a bucket by Jeppson to make the score 50-47, but once again the hot shooting Eagles ran the lead back up to double digits, 66-56. The Birds scored the next 6 to trim the deficit down to 4, but their defense could not contain the Eagles as the lead was pushed back into double digits, 75-65 with 3 minutes remaining. The Eagles coasted the rest of the way for an 11 point, 87-76 victory.

Jeppson led the Birds in scoring with 19 points. Bojang had a team high 9 rebounds while adding 14 points. Greene had a team high 4 assists and chipped in 12 points. Ford was the only other Redbird in double figures with 11 points.
