The Birds jumped out to an early 9-2 lead on 4 points by Gregg
Alexander, and 5 by Shawn Jeppson. SMS
climbed back within 2, 11-9, before an Alexander basket stopped the run. By the
7:50 mark ISU held a 19-11 lead on a 3 pointer by Vince
Greene. The Birds pushed the lead to 14 on back to back baskets by Boo
Bojang and a 3 pointer by Jeppson to make the score 29-15. SMS cut the deficit
to 11 before entering the half down 13, 36-23.
The Birds held onto their double digit lead until just under 15 minutes to go
as SMS cut the lead down to 9, 47-38. They got as close as 7 before ISU
increased their lead to 11, 51-40. ISU held a 56-46 lead with 9 minutes
left in the game when SMS once again chipped into the lead. The cut the deficit
to 5, 60-55 with 3:42 remaining and finally took their first lead of the game,
63-65 with 53.4 seconds left in the game. The Birds didn't score the rest
of the way, and were held without a field goal over the final 7:30, and lost
68-63.
