The Birds fell behind by 9 points with 6:41 remaining in the first half,
then turned the ball over on the next 6 possessions, however Creighton couldn't
get the ball in the basket either and the Birds crawled back into the game,
tying the score at 29 with 1 minute left in the half. The teams traded baskets
before entering the half tied at 31.
The Birds could never gain a lead in the second half and lost by 7, the
largest margin of the half. With 4:32 left in the game they got back within 1
point, 55-54 as Shawn Jeppson shot the
lights out in the second half, but the Birds only made 1 more basket the rest of
the way and lost 63-56.
Boo Bojang led ISU with 15 points and 7
rebounds. Jeppson added 14 points. Randy Rice
scored 8 points to go along with 6 assists and 2 steals. Gregg
Alexander contributed 8 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.
